Grundlock, Littlejohn, Tai Selected as Captains to Head Up 2008-2009 Campaign (5/30/08)
Wellesley softball recently announced that their squad will be captained for the 2008-2009 campaign by the senior-trio of Beej Grundlock, Samantha Littlejohn, and Amanda Tai as voted on by their teammates.
2009 Outlook from Senior Captains, Amanda Tai, Beej Grundlock, and Samantha Littlejohn: Tai: Following the accomplishments of the past four years and after graduating the inaugural class of 2008, this year's team will be the beginning of a new era; redefining the pathways to success. I'm excited to work together as a team and go through this transformation as we strive towards our goal of going to the NCAA nationals this year. Go Blue!
Grundlock: The upcoming season for Wellesley College Softball is a season of change. In the first four years of the program, Wellesley Softball has established a name for itself and has proven itself to be a contender in the NEWMAC conference, the New England Region, and even in the Nation. Now we are out to prove that not only is Wellesley Softball a contender but also one of the best in the Conference and Region. Every year it is our goal to win the NEWMAC Conference and make it to Regionals. Our ultimate goal would be to get to the NCAA World Series! That is what our hearts are set on.
Littlejohn: Wellesley Softball is looking to continue the success we've had over the last two seasons. Although our team may look different this year, we will maintain our high expectations, level of play, and success in the '09 season.
As the 08'- 09' season begins, our expectations are higher than ever. Every year it is our goal to win the NEWMAC Conference and make a mark in the NCAA tournament. Last season, for the first time ever, we were ranked in the NFCA Division III Top 25. It is our ambition to continue to be one of the best Division III programs in the country. After graduating a very talented class in 2008, we will look to our three exceptional senior captains to lead the team. In addition to our senior triumvirate, we have four experienced juniors, five gifted sophomores and four new first-year players! Heading into our fifth year, we have established ourselves as a Conference, Regional, and National contender. With high expectations for continued success, our team will look to surpass previous expectations; we now understand that we are a "team to beat", and we are prepared to work diligently to uphold this acknowledgment. We intend to reach our Conference, Regional, and National goals by focusing on and playing one game at a time. ~Coach Keri O'Meara
