Junior hurler, Barbarajean Grundlock, earned NEWMAC Pitcher of the Week honors for the period ending March 30, 2008.
In a 7-win and 3-loss week for the Blue, Grundlock secured three wins and recorded a 0.73 E.R.A. For the week, Grundlock tossed complete games in two starts and made five appearances. Coming in to relieve during the week on three occasions, she allowed only one run.
During spring break competition in Orange, California, the junior struck out eight batters through seven innings, while allowing three hits against Elmhurst College (Illinois). In a match-up against Williams College (Massachusetts), Grundlock pitched a complete game and again allowed only three hits. Wellesley defeated Williams by a score of 4-2.
In her relief pitching appearances, Grundlock contributed in all three games, giving up only five total hits in 14.2 innings. Against Whitworth College (Washington), she allowed no runs and only one hit. She picked up a win in relief after throwing 5.2 innings of scoreless softball.
Grundlock tossed 28.2 innings for the week and gave up a mere three runs. Opposing batters were only able to muster a .115 batting average against the junior ace.
