First year, Brittany Bakacs, came up big for the Wellesley Blue in her first collegiate games as she was responsible for five of Wellesley's seven total runs on the day. The Blue defeated Brandeis by a final score of 4-2 in game one of a doubleheader while the second game was halted at a 3-3 tie on account of darkness prior to the commencement of the 7th inning.
Game 1 starting pitcher, Barbarajean Grundlock, tallied the W by allowing two runs on four Brandeis hits. Grundlock struck out five batters.
Game 2 starting pitcher, Jenna Harvey, allowed three runs and three hits and struck out nine in five total innings. Senior, Kristie Gola, faced three Brandeis batters in relief, striking out two, prior to the game being called due to darkness.
Wellesley softball opens up NEWMAC play on Saturday, March 22 when they travel to Coast Guard. The game is scheduled for a 12noon start.
